This Privacy Policy describes the ways in which your personal data is collected and used by the TaxStudio, Ltd. (collectively referred to herein as “TaxStudio”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By providing your personal data to TaxStudio, you acknowledge and agree that your data may be shared between and/or processed by any of TaxStudio offices.
Please review this Privacy Policy prior to providing your personal data to us. If you do not accept and agree to the Privacy Policy and any additional applicable terms and conditions, please refrain from providing your personal data to us, accessing our websites, and/or utilizing our products and services.
Our Privacy Policy may change from time to time to reflect changes in law and/or our services. Whenever there are changes, the modified policies will be posted on our website and will be effective at that time. If there are any material changes, we will provide a notice of such changes. Consequently, each time you access or use our website or otherwise engage with us, you accept and agree to the most current Privacy Policy and additional applicable terms and conditions.
TaxStudio only collects personally identifiable information for the provision of our tax related services, to administer the provision of those services (e.g., contracting and billing), and employment related purposes. If you are located in the United States, personally identifying information collected by TaxStudio for tax and accounting purposes is considered “non-public personal information” as defined by the Gramm Leach Bliley Act (“GLBA”). If you are located outside of the United States, or TaxStudio collects personally identifying information related to your employment with TaxStudio or other business administrative purposes, then it may be considered “personal information” or “personal data” as defined by applicable data privacy laws including but not limited to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679) (“GDPR”) in each case as amended, superseded or replaced from time to time.
Collection of Personal Data
We collect non-public personal information/personal information that is directly provided by you to prepare your personal income tax returns or provided to us to prepare corporate tax returns and provide related tax services for an entity that requires your non-public personal information/personal information due to your relationship with the entity (e.g., employee, shareholder, board member, contractor, etc.).
The non-public personal information/personal information TaxStudio collects are:

As part of the services that we provide, we do collect nonpublic personal information/personal information from you from the following sources:
● Client Interviews, tax return organizers, and financial history questionnaires: To properly prepare your income tax return and provide related advisory services, we receive information from you to complete your tax return and provide related advisory services. This information is collected from you in written form, by phone, on-line, by mail and in personal interviews and consultations conducted by us, as well as by information we collect from others with your authorization.
● Transaction information: This is information about your transactions with us and includes information necessary for billing and payment for our tax preparation and related advisory services, as well as all correspondence between you and us. Transaction information would also include your payment history with us, billing records and any collection effort engaged in by us for payment of services rendered to you.
Parties To Whom We Disclose Information
We retain records relating to professional services that we provide so that we are better able to assist you with your professional needs and, in some cases, to comply with professional guidelines.
We do not disclose any non-public personal information/ personal information about our clients or former clients to our affiliates or to non-affiliated third parties except as permitted by law, Ethics Rulings of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and applicable state licensing boards. Non-public personal information/personal information about you and our former clients may be disclosed to both our affiliates and non-affiliated third parties as permitted by law, our Code of Professional Conduct, and Ethics Rulings of the AICPA, as follows:
1. The information is provided to our agents, vendors or service providers who perform functions on our behalf. See below for additional details.
2. Complying with a validity issued and enforceable subpoena or summons.
3. In the course of a review of our firm’s practices under applicable Accountancy Board authorizations.
4. Initiating a complaint or responding to an inquiry made by an applicable professional conduct committee, the ethics division or trial board of the AICPA or duly constituted investigative or disciplinary body of any State CPA Society or Board of Accountancy.
5. A review of a professional practice in conjunction with a prospective purchase, sale or merger of all or part of our practice, provided that we take appropriate precautions (for example, through a written confidentiality agreement) so the prospective purchaser does not disclose information obtained in the course of the review.
6. Participating in actual or threatened legal proceedings or alternative dispute resolution proceedings either initiated by or against us, provided we disclose only the information necessary to file, pursue or defend against the lawsuit, and take reasonable precautions to ensure that the information disclosed does not become a matter of public record.
7. Providing information to affiliates of the firm and non-affiliated third parties who perform services or functions for us pursuant to a third party or affiliate from disclosing or using the information other than for the purposes for which the information was disclosed (for example, using an outside service bureau to proceed clients’ tax returns, or using a records-retention agency to store clients’ records).
General Restrictions on Disclosure of Non-Public Personal Information to Affiliates and Non-Affiliated Third Parties: As tax preparers, we are prohibited by the Internal Revenue Code Section 7216 from disclosing your income tax return information without your consent, other than for the specific purpose of preparing, assisting in preparing or obtaining and providing services in connection with the preparation of an income tax return for you. Furthermore, as licensed members engaged in tax preparation, we are generally prohibited from disclosing confidential client information about you to affiliates and non-affiliated third parties without your specific consent. (See exceptions under heading "Parties to Whom We Disclose Information".)
It is anticipated that your non-public personal information/personal information will be disclosed to the following categories of third-party service providers who perform functions on our behalf. We require that our third-party service providers only use your non-public personal information/personal information as necessary to provide the requested services to us and each service provider is subject to a set of terms consistent with this Privacy Policy.
We disclose your non-public personal information/personal information to the following categories of recipients:
● Affiliates belonging to TaxStudio: TaxStudio shares non-public personal information/personal information within the TaxStudio group of entities.
● Third-party service providers: TaxStudio may transfer or disclose applicable non-public personal information/personal information we collect to external support providers (and their subsidiaries and affiliates) who are engaged by us to support our internal ancillary processes. For example, we engage support providers to provide:
(a) general office support including document production and management, archiving, office cleaning and translation services;
(b) accounting, finance and billing support;
(c) IT functions including system management and security, data storage, cloud computing, analytics, business applications, voicemail and replication of systems for business continuity/disaster recovery purposes; and
(d) HR functions including payroll, benefit and payment providers, pension providers, training providers, recruitment agencies, search consultancy firms, background checking or other screening providers.
● Other third-party recipients: Depending on the purpose for which we collect and process your nonpublic personal information/personal information, we share your personal data with the following recipients:
(a) Professional advisors, such as auditors;
(b) Regulators;
(c) Tax and customs;
(d) Regulatory and other professional bodies; and
(e) Government departments and agencies.
● Acquirer or successor of TaxStudio: If we go through a corporate sale, merger, reorganization, dissolution or similar event, personal data we gather from you will be transferred in connection with such an event. Any acquirer or successor of TaxStudio may continue to use the nonpublic personal information/personal information as described in this Privacy Policy provided that the acquirer or successor is bound by appropriate agreements or obligations and may only use or disclose your non-public personal information/personal information in a manner consistent with the use and disclosure provisions of this Privacy Policy, or unless you consent otherwise.
● Legally compelled disclosure: There are circumstances under which TaxStudio is legally compelled to disclose your non-personal information/personal information. These circumstances include, among others, situations where disclosure is required by law applicable to TaxStudio, or necessary to comply with an order of a court or governmental agency, export control, or necessary for matters of safety and security. In such cases, TaxStudio will only provide the minimum amount of non-public personal information/personal information permissible when responding to a request for disclosure.
Collection of Information Through Cookie Use
TAXSTUDIO DOES NOT COLLECT COOKIES ON OUR WEBSITE. If we begin to collect cookies on our website, we will update this section to reflect the updated information and provide a notification that will be available when you access our website again.
Collection of Minors’ Information
Our website is not intended for use by minors under the age of eighteen (18) years. TaxStudio does not knowingly collect, disclose, or sell the personal information of minors under 18 years of age through our website. If you are under 18 years old, please do not provide any personal data even if prompted to do so. If you believe that you have inadvertently provided personal data, please ask your parent(s) or legal guardian(s) to notify us and we will delete your personal information.
Notice of Third-Party Links
Our website may contain links to other websites which are managed by third parties (including their use of cookies). As a user of links, it is your responsibility to understand those third parties’ privacy policies. Once you leave our websites using links, we have no control over information that is submitted to or collected by any third parties and are not responsible for other websites.
International Transfer of Non-public Information/Personal Information
By providing us with your non-public personal information/personal information, you acknowledge and agree that we may from time-to-time transfer any of your non-public personal information/personal information to any of our offices or to the offices of any of our affiliates, agents or appointed representatives located around the world. We have implemented appropriate safeguards for transfers of non-public personal information/personal information originating from the European Economic Area (EEA) to countries located outside of the EEA. Please do not submit any non-public personal information/personal information to us if you do not wish for your data to be transferred internationally.
